Tasdance is bringing dance lovers from across the north together for an afternoon of performing, teaching, and sharing. Five Launceston-based social dance groups will perform a short piece and teach their style to the audience. You can join us as an audience member or a mover for ten minutes or three hours.
Danceweekender is proudly supported by WD Booth and Arts Tasmania.
Suitable for all ages
Since 1981, Tasdance has been the flagship dance company of Lutruwita/Tasmania. The company has created over 200 works and nurtured the work of over 100 choreographers. In 2022, Tasdance amalgamated with the internationally recognised development program Situate to become Assembly 197 —Tasmania’s new live arts centre.
Assembly 197 is a resoundingly Tasmanian, proudly regional, live arts centre on the banks of Launceston’s Kanamaluka/River Tamar. It is an inclusive site for transforming inquisitive artists and regional arts practice and connecting with creative communities and curious audiences.
