Yyan Ng has spent the past 20 years learning, performing, and teaching Japanese music. He leads Launceston’s Taiko group, Taiko Oni Jima, plays the shakuhachi (Japanese flute) under two traditional schools, and has recently taken up the sanshin, studying the music of the Ryukyu Islands.

Together, Yyan and Katie sing island songs from Okinawa to the Yaeyama archipelago—as a form of musical therapy.
