Dr. Angus (Gus) Leighton is a contemporary Australian tenor saxophonist based in Hobart, Tasmania who is known for his improvisational and compositional skills. Gus is a dynamic figure in the music scene and has released 5 albums in 5 years with his groups Uncle Gus and The Rimshots and The Gus Leighton Quartet. He’s performed at events nationwide, sharing stages with Dami Im, The Melbourne Ska Orchestra, and The Wolfe Brothers. Gus also regularly collaborates with DJs – most notably under the moniker Gust where he performs alongside DJ Cane at Hobart Hurricanes matches. Alongside DJ Cane, Gus provided the 2025 BBL Final halftime show. His skills are internationally recognized as a representative artist for Syos Mouthpieces (France) and Bari Woodwind Inc (USA). With unbridled energy and creativity, Gus is continuing to leave an impression on the Australian music scene.
