Mel de Ruyter is a photographer and multidisciplinary artist based in Launceston (lutruwita/Tasmania).
Since completing a Contemporary Arts degree in 2010, she has worked professionally in photography while maintaining a process-driven creative practice, and has been part of a number of solo and group exhibitions since graduating.
With a background spanning photography, gallery work, and artist-led projects, Mel brings a thoughtful, process-based approach to creating and curating visual work.
She has been actively involved in the Tasmanian arts community through engagement with creative agencies, working in art galleries, and contributing to artist-run initiatives, along with a number of other volunteer roles in the arts sector.
Junction acknowledges the Palawa people as the original and ongoing owners and custodians of Lutruwita. We pay our respects to elders past and present, and acknowledge that sovereignty has never been ceded.
