Blossom Jazz Quintet brings a fresh yet nostalgic touch to the Tasmanian jazz scene, led by expressive vocalist Susannah Coleman-Brown alongside Jason Whatley (piano), Cath Kilner (upright bass), Beau Thomas (drums), and Hobart-based vibraphone virtuoso Kelly Ottaway.

Drawing inspiration from the iconic Blossom Dearie, their repertoire spans elegant jazz standards and captivating arrangements of works by Nina Simone, Billie Holiday, Sarah Vaughan, Diana Krall, and others. With regular appearances at northern and north-western Tasmanian jazz clubs and cocktail bars, the quintet is known for its dynamic interplay and sophisticated sound.

At the heart of their performances is Susannah’s emotionally rich, playful, and powerful vocal delivery, perfectly complemented by the ensemble’s refined musicianship. For their Junction Arts Festival appearances, the addition of Ottaway’s shimmering vibraphone brings an extra layer of magic to the group’s distinctive blend of vintage charm and contemporary flair.
