Brum Brum is a live transmission project situated in a shit-box car. Across the festival, Sisters Akousmatica will be taking on the grand tradition of the Launceston blockie - broadcasting new radio works from artists and community members daily from their car.
FRI 3 SEPTEMBER: 2PM-5PM Transmit Yourself Workshop
Be a radio transmitter with Sisters Akousmatica. We’ll work together to make a radio receiver, a radio show and tune-in to your universe! Spot their Brum Brum radio station during the festival and you might hear your sounds!
SAT 4 SEPTEMBER: 10AM - 12:30PM Harvest Market
Catch the Radio Queens at Harvest Launceston with their radio transmitting hot rod in tow. Paint and draw on the Brum Brum car, broadcast live to anyone in the area with a radio, and enjoy plenty of surprises from the eclectic duo.
SAT 4 SEPTEMBER: 6:30PM - 7:30PM Sunset Morse-code Orchestra Performance, Elizabeth St Carpark
Got a hot-rod? A shit-box? A custom car? Your mum’s Mazda?
Bring your car and join our sunset morse code orchestra on Saturday 4 September at Elizabeth St Car Park, 6.30 - 7.30pm.
No experience necessary. All you need is your car and a working FM radio - we will provide instructions for you to follow, using your headlights and motor riffs to create a rev-head orchestra.
SUN 5 SEPTEMBER: 10AM - 4PM Prince's Square
On Sunday you can find Sisters Akousmatika and the Brum Brum car in Prince's Square, broadcasting live in between cutting blockies.
