Backyard Bands: Hydro House Substation

The Sleepyheads, RABBIT, Kat Edwards, Hugo Bladel (DJ set)

Backyard Bands is a rare adventure into the backyard of one of Launceston’s most stunning architectural homes for an intimate sunset music concert.

Backyard Bands will see one of Launceston’s most iconic architectural homes transformed into a backyard gig, complete with Tassie musicians, food and wine, and a lucky handful of ticket holders.

High on the hills of West Launceston sits the early 20th century art deco hydro-electrical Substation with dramatic views over Launceston. The 1922 Hydro House will become the backdrop for an intimate sunset music concert featuring The Sleepyheads, RABBIT, Kat Edwards and a DJ set by Hugo Bladel.

Audiences can expect an unforgettable sunset gig with dramatic views over Launceston and music by some of Tassie's finest musicians.

Hailing from the beautiful, sleepy town of Hobart, Kat Edwards first performed in 2013 before immersing herself in the local music scene, busking on weekends, writing and recording. Nineteen year old Kat shares her raw songwriting talent and a voice that completely defies her youth.

RABBIT are a 4 piece power-pop outfit from nipaluna/Hobart, Tasmania, hot and fast and sharp as glass. Smear them all over your broken heart.

Over the last 5 years, The Sleepyheads have turned heads all over the country with their honest, heart on the sleeve style indie rock performances. Scoring a feature artist slot on Triple J and a spot at the St Helens One Night Stand, the band has played the likes of Falls Festival, Party In The Paddock, Til The Wheels Fall Off and Woolly Mammoth (SA).

Off the back of releasing his brand new album, HUGE, Hugo Bladel will bring his signature high-energy DJ show to Backyard Bands for an unforgettable set.
