The Bad Dad Orchestra

The Bad Dad Orchestra

The Bad Dad Orchestra, a collective of eight dads, all of whom have played key roles in Tasmania’s vibrant music scene over the past decade.

The Bad Dad Orchestra is made up of eight Launceston musicians who share a passion for creating and performing music, and between them happen to have 16 of the most awesome kids in the world. The BDO was formed in mid-2015, from a concept devised by the late rhythm guitarist Liam Pennicott and evolved quickly into a powerhouse line up of some of Launceston’s premiere contemporary musicians. It soon became apparent there was a great chemistry between the members and with such a level of technical skills and musical talent amongst the members, moving the band into a professional performing environment and recording and releasing their own original music, was a logical and inevitable step.

The BDO members have all been involved in the music industry as performers and music educators for many years and amongst their credits have performed all over Tasmania, Nationally and Internationally. Other musical endeavours of the BDO members include: Guthrie, Bad Beef, Dublo, Box Money, The Devilrock Four, The Staunches, The Stayns, The Blackstone Dukes, Funktional and Horehound - to name a few!

The members of the BDO are all extremely passionate professional musicians and are committed to developing their musical careers. The experience of fatherhood has given the BDO members a new focus and inspiration for their musical endeavours, and although they all have all been involved in the music industry as performers and music educators for many years they are all extremely enthusiastic about this relatively new project and the amazing music they are producing after such a short time.

With a number of festival appearances booked, a handful of sold out shows under their belt and plans to record new music, these eight Tasmanian Dads show no signs of slowing down any time soon!
