Backyard Bands at The Sub-Station Hydro House
Guthrie TasmaniaProduced by Junction Arts Festival
Following sold out shows in 2014, join us again on a rare adventure into the backyards of two of Launceston’s spectacular historic buildings for an intimate live music concert. Two unique experiences of contrasting views, architecture, history and music.
Hatherley Birrell Collection is a National Listed 1830’s grand mansion with an expansive English-style parkland garden with snowy mountain vistas.
High on the hills of West Launceston sits the early 20th century art deco hydro-electrical sub-station with dramatic views over Launceston.
It began in a swamp. Well, in a Tipi in a swamp, with a telephone attached to an ironbark gum. This is not fiction. This is the cold smoking truth. Guthrie delivers honest and distinctive foot stompin’ electric blues. These rugged southern gents sing songs of love, murder, vengeance, addiction, redemption, lust, longing and loss. Dark and magnificent, Guthrie delivers an incendiary live spectacle. Brace yourselves!
