Kira Puru & the Bruise

Kira Puru & the Bruise (Melbourne)

Kira Puru & the Bruise cut their teeth playing sweaty bars on the East Coast of Australia in 2010/11. Recently however, they’ve taken to holing up in the recording studio, favouring collaboration over perspiration. Clocking up a colourful list of collaborators including The Preatures, Caitlin Park, Paul Mac, IIIy, M-Phazes, Blackfella Films, Mark Opitz, Clairy Browne & the Bangin’ Rackettes, Kira Puru & the Bruise are appearing, fresh off their single launch tour with fellow Novacastrians, Post Paint. Their slow-motion brand of industrial blues, now coined ‘Doom-pop’, has earned KPtB a throng of dedicated fans Australia- wide as well as industry accolades. Melbourne’s Lanie Lane has given props, “This Woman is a force of nature. She rocks my world and her live performance is just incredible”. Paul Mac is undoubtly fond, “Every now and then a band comes along that feels as real as the Birthday Party, and not just a celebration of the latest mixture of hairstyle and genre. Kira Puru & the Bruises are one of those bands. They actully feel dangerous, and you know they “live” it instead of write “about” it. About f*ing time. I love this band.
