Lars de Kantzow: A Retrospective
Lars de Kantzow (Launceston)
Iconic Tasmanian artist Lars de Kanztow’s retrospective exhibition explores the development of his free neo expressionist style that has grown ever more exuberant as he has matured as an artist. From his earlier works inspired by fairy stories and pop culture to his current interest in lighthouses, ships and all things maritime, the collection represents the arc of his artistic career so far.
Junction Arts Festival has been wanting to present a retrospective of Lars’ work since the first Festival three years ago. Finally, this year a collection of key paintings spanning the last 10 years have been drawn from public and private collections in Victoria and Tasmania and will be presented in a pop-up exhibition in Launceston’s CBD.
“The colours are lovely, lyrical, with flowing spontaneous style. He relates well to our environment here - the Tamar and Launceston”. Matt Maloney, The Examiner.
