Junction Arts Festival is Northern Tasmania’s premier multi-arts festival, transforming Launceston’s unique spaces into extraordinary creative experiences each spring. Since 2010, we’ve been lighting up Launceston with immersive performances, visual arts, music, and unexpected experiences in unusual places.
Born as part of the Regional Arts Australia National Conference, Junction’s immediate success sparked its evolution into an annual celebration that captures the essence of Tasmania’s vibrant arts scene. As an independent, not-for-profit organisation since 2012, we’ve grown from a local initiative into a yearly festival in lutruwita/Tasmania.
We create a kaleidoscope of artistic experiences where the familiar becomes extraordinary. As winter retreats and spring emerges, Junction celebrates the dance between light and dark, inviting audiences to discover art in unexpected places throughout Launceston. Our festival is more than a series of events – it’s a journey that ignites creativity and brings our community together.
Operating on Kanamaluka/River Tamar, we acknowledge the Palawa/Tasmanian Aboriginal people as the original and ongoing owners of lutruwita/Tasmania. We pay our respects to elders past and present, acknowledge that sovereignty has never been ceded, and actively support Truth Telling and Treaty processes.
Junction Arts Festival is guided by a passionate, skilled board of directors who volunteer their time and expertise to enrich Northern Tasmania’s cultural landscape. Our board members bring diverse professional backgrounds and deep community connections to help shape Junction’s vision and future.
